Dr. Angela Mulrooney

Dr. Angela Mulrooney started her movement career at three years of age doing gymnastics with her best friend in her backyard in Ottawa, Ontario. The freedom she felt while propelling herself through space using her own power had her hooked.  She continued to study gymnastics until university in 1998 where she discovered ballroom dancing. While gaining her DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) at the University of Saskatchewan, she started teaching for the U of S Ballroom Dance Club. Before long she was competing at the professional level in American Rhythm and placed fifth in Canada.

She was taken on by a professional contemporary dance company (La Caravan Dance Theatre) and circus company (Velocity Motion Werks). In 2009 she shifted her focus for the next few years while continuing her dance studies in ballroom, salsa, bachata, kizomba, and Argentine tango.

She has dedicated herself to her pursuit of dance. In doing so, she endeavors to share with the Calgary dance community her love of dance and belief in strong fundamentals being the basis of any good dance career. Her full-time return to the community has been a great addition to her life and allows her to share the wealth of information acquired over the years in her extensive dance studies. There is no greater joys in her life than when she is entranced in movement or helping others better themselves.
